The Most Boring Book Ever by Brandon Sanderson is a very silly fantasy picture book with great illustrations. The book is all about context. The pictures show very exciting things, but the narrator is only listing the boring things. The end of the book has a clever little twist. The pictures and characters reminded me of the Tin Tin books by Hergé. The book is only 48 pages long with writing on every other page. The book is for all ages. The book doesn’t have that many words and would be great for kids learning to read. I got this book on Kindle from the library, I did not know it was a picture book. I just saw a new book by Brandon Sanderson that was not on my radar. The book was fun and I think my youngest nephew of 5 would love it. I’m sure this book was inspired by Sanderson’s kids. They said they were bored. He found a way to make an adventure out of it. The Most Boring Book Ever by Brandon Sanderson was published on September 24, 2024.

Plot Summary (nonspoiler): A boy is sitting on a chair dropping from the air. The boy encounters air pirates and a dragon. The boy has to use boring old math to avoid peril.

What I Liked: The artwork is excellent. The artwork is by Kazu Kibuishi, who also writes and does illustrations for the Amulet graphic novel series. I love the airships for the pirates. I love that this book is the perfect book for your child when they say that they are bored. I enjoyed the artwork for the big red fire-breathing dragon. I love the twist at the end of the book.

What I Disliked: There was one part that said, clouds are boring. There were no clouds, just jet streams from the pirate airships. I guess streams could have been confusing. The drawing could have been the airships and the boy coming out of a cloud. There were clouds in the far distance.

Recommendations: The Most Boring Book Ever is a lot of fun for the whole family. I enjoyed this very quick quirky read. This is a book that I would have loved to read and have my parents read to me. I recommend my followers check out The Most Boring Book Ever by Brandon Sanderson.

Rating: The Most Boring Book Ever by Brandon Sanderson I rated 4 out of 5.
