February 2025 TBR list: Last month I finished 5 out of 7 books from my January TBR list. I exchanged two books and added one. I completed 8 total books which was my goal. I have four ARC’s from NetGalley due in February with three released on the same day. Not going to finish them before the date but will soon after. I also have a couple of library holds I can’t wait to read. I have an ambitious 9 books that I would like to read this month.

James by Percival Everett I read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. This allowed me to appreciate and gain insight into the character of Jim. Jim and Huck’s relationship is special. But what I noticed in this read is how many times Jim gets separated from Huck. I have heard so much wonderful things about James. I cannot wait to read it.

The God of the Woods by Liz Moore is a mystery I keep hearing about. I read Long Bright River by Moore and enjoyed it. The story is about a missing kid at a came in 1975. I’m all about a historical fiction mystery. The God of the Woods did win the Goodreads choice award in Best Mystery of 2024.

The Bones Beneath My Skin by TJ Klune is one of my favorite writers. House of the Cerulean Sea broke me with tears of joy. I have recommended all three books from him and can’t wait to read this one. It is about a man looking to escape to his family’s summer cabin. He finds it is not empty. A man and a 10-year-old girl live there. However, the child is not what she seems. I’m reading The Bones Beneath My Skin thanks to Netgalley and Tor Books. The Bone Beneath My Skin will be published on February 4, 2025.

Midwestern Gothic by Scott Thomas is a horror book that is comprised of 4 novellas. The novellas focus on Gothic/folklore stories. I was a big fan of Scott Thomas’s novel Violet about a creepy invisible friend that is all too real. Thomas is a good writer and knows how to deliver the scares. I’m reading this book thanks to Netgalley and Inkshares. I have one novella left to read. Midwestern Gothic a good collection of stories so far.

Listen to Your Sister by Neena Viel is a debut horror novel. A sister 25 has to raise her younger brother. She keeps having nightmares about her failing as a sister and her brother dying. When her brother gets in trouble at a protest and needs to go into hiding. They rent a cabin in the woods and things in the nightmares start coming true. This book is getting a lot of buzz can’t wait to read it. Listen to Your Sister will be published on February 4, 2025.

All Better Now by Neal Shusterman is about a deadly disease that kills one in four people. But if you survive the disease it cures stress, depression, greed, and any other negative thoughts. Some are spreading the disease because they see it as helping people. The medical community is trying to stop the disease because it is killing people at alarming rates. I love Shusterman’s Arc of the Scythe series. All Better Now will be published on February 4, 2025.

Lorne by Susan Morrison is a biography about Lorne Michaels the creator of Saturday Night Live. SNL is about to hit its 50th anniversary. I was a huge fan of the show growing up. The book interviewed a lot of my favorite cast members and Lorne himself. Lorne is scheduled to be published on February 18, 2025.

Goosebumps – My Best Friend Is Invisible by R.L. Stine is about a kid who loves science fiction and ghosts. He finds signs of an invisible being in his room is it an invisible boy or a ghost?

Sacred by Dennis Lehane is the third Kenzie and Gennaro book about a dying billionaire looking for his missing daughter. The daughter has been gone three weeks and so has the first private investigator, Kenzie’s mentor. This whole series is a reread for me. I’ve been listening to the majority of audiobook at work.
