January 2025 TBR list: Dear readers, a whole new year of reading is upon us. I have so many good reads planned. I have been approved for 11 ARCs (Advanced Readers Copies) in 2025 thank you publishers for reaching out and Netgalley.  I have a lot of great reads planned. I set my goal for 75 books this year. I read 65 last year but pretty confident of this goal. My goal is to read more horror and mysteries this year. I already have a good deal of ARC’s in those genres. This year I will finally finish my Goosebumps Original Series reads. I’ve been reading one a month for almost five years now. A couple of followers have asked if I will continue to the next Goosebumps series. I plan to read that eventually. I will flip to a different series after I finish Goosebumps. I have 6 more books to complete. I have been running this blog for 6 years. I’m so thankful for every interaction that we’ve shared over the years.

 The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley is about a woman who becomes a bridge for a person who is out of time. She gets assigned an Arctic Explorer from 1847 who she will live with and acclimate to present-day England. The Explorer smokes like a chimney, is not used to women having any rights, and is perplexed by modern-day plumbing.  This is a humorous science fiction story that asks the question are you born at the right time?

American Gods by Neil Gaiman is a fantasy story about the Gods of America. It is about new Gods and old Gods. These Gods have immigrated to the new world of America. There’s the God of Technology, the God of Media, the God of Guns, and The God of Sex. The story follows Shadow Moon a man just released from prison that gets hired for a job by Mr. Wednesday. Wednesday needs Shadow to interact with the Gods on a quest.  American Gods is a reread for me. But, I’m getting a new experience by reading the 10th Anniversary edition. It includes 10,000 extra words and Gaiman’s preferred edition.

Midwestern Gothic by Scott Thomas is a horror book that is comprised of 4 novellas. The novellas focus on Gothic/folklore stories. I was a big fan of Scott Thomas’s novel Violet about a creepy invisible friend that is all too real. Thomas is a good writer and knows how to deliver the scares. I’m reading this book thanks to Netgalley and Inkshares.

Horror Movie by Paul Tremblay is about a group of friends who make a scary movie in 1993. The public has never seen the full film only three scenes have been seen which has a huge fan base. Hollywood wants to remake this movie. There’s only one surviving cast member. This person knows what was hidden in the script. They understand what the movie was about and will kill to get it made.  This will be my second Paul Tremblay since The Cabin at the End of the World.

The Wolf’s Hour by Robert R. McCammon is one of my all-time favorite books. It is about a Spy during World War II who also happens to be a Werewolf. The book is a little hard to find but after going to a book signing with author Robert R. McCammon my wife got me a copy. This is actually my second copy of the book. My wife got duped and bought me a German copy, which I did get signed. This is a book I’ve been dying to review for the blog.

 The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain is a book I’ve been meaning to read. I read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer a couple of years back. I was astounded by the writing. I was also surprised by the parts of the story that got left out of the movie adaptations. I also plan to read James by Percival Everett. I want the full context of the story. I want to know what he’s adding to it by telling Jim’s perspective.

Goosebumps – My Best Friend Is Invisible by R.L. Stine is about a kid who loves science fiction and ghosts. He finds signs of an invisible being in his room is it an invisible boy or a ghost?
