August 2024 TBR list: I did not make a list last month, due to my new job. I feel confident in my new schedule to read 5 books this month. I’m going to knock out an old favorite and a Netgalley release

NOS4A2 by Joe Hill is a modern-day vampire that sucks the souls out of children so it brings new life back into Charlie Manx. Up against him is Victoria who can create a bridge to a place of need when she is on her bike, and she needs to get to Christmasland where Charlie Manx is to stop him. This is a reread for me. I remember loving it and giving it 4 stars as I read it 12 years ago.

Eyes Are the Best Part by Monika Kim the cover says it all having a bloody eyeball between two chopsticks. Someone is going to eat eyes, and as squeamish as that makes me I have to read it. This is a debut serial killer/psychological horror about a Korean college student dealing with a potential new American Stepdad. Thanks, Netgalley and Erewhon Books, for giving me a free copy. Eyes Are the Best Part was published on June 25, 2024.

First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston is a fun new mystery that is being called an intense psychological thriller. I don’t know too much but this is one of the highest-rated new mysteries and I have had it recommended to me.

Goosebumps: Chicken Chicken by R.L. Stine is Goosebumps book 53. A lot of reviews have this listed as the worst Goosebumps book so we will see.  I think turning into a chicken can be scary.

Ultimate Spider-Man Volume 2: Learning Curve by Brian Michael Bendis Peter Parker starts a job at the Daily Bugle and becomes haunted by the Green Goblin.  Spiderman battles the Kingpin and the Enforcers
